Pema Osel Ling is located at 2013 Eureka Canyon Road, about 1.5-2 hours south of San Francisco, 35 minutes from Santa Cruz and about an hour from either Monterey or San Jose.

The best airport to fly into is San Jose (SCJ), and we’ll try to coordinate carpools and/or shuttles from there for most out of town guests. It is possible to get to SJC from San Francisco airport (SFO) or Oakland airport (OAK) by private shuttle or public transportation (BART+Caltrain) if necessary. When you know your travel plans, please fill out the form below so we can coordinate rides from the airport!

If we’re not able accomodate your airport pickup, there’s an affordable shuttle service that will take you from SJC or SFO to the Best Western Seacliff in Aptos.

DO NOT USE GPS DIRECTIONS to get to Pema Osel Ling, as map robots are mischievous and enjoy taking unsuspecting humans on death-defying drives up winding mountain roads. (Seriously: ask Julie and Melissa about their Fish Rock Road adventure/debacle.) Here is the highly recommended route to follow to Pema Osel Ling:

From San Jose, San Francisco, or parts north, you will first drive to Santa Cruz and then follow these directions:

  1. head south on Highway 1
  2. exit at Freedom Boulevard and turn left (crossing over the freeway)
  3. after 5 miles, turn left onto Corralitos Road (at a stop sign)
  4. follow this for 2 miles until a four way stop – the road continues as Eureka Canyon
  5. go straight and continue for 6.7 miles (the road becomes winding, probably a 5 on a 1-10 scale of mountain roads)
  6. Pema Osel Ling will be on the left side, with a big blue sign posted at the entrance

Here’s the route from Santa Cruz on a Google Map.

From Monterey and parts south, follow these directions from Highway 1 North:

  1. exit at Airport Boulevard
  2. turn left onto Freedom Boulevard at the junction
  3. at the stop sign, make a right onto Corralitos Road

Steps 4-6 are the same as above!
